Burke has worked on the Senate Finance Committee, and she served as Senator Dole’s Chief of Staff (1986-1996). She was appointed as Secretary of the Senate in 1995. Was Undersecretary for American Museums, National Programs, and Outreach for Smithsonian Institution (2004-2007).
