In this 2007 oral history interview with Brien R. Williams, Ellsworth talks about Dole's start in politics, personal life, and Republican National Committee leadership.

Ellsworth served as a U.S. Representative from Kansas (1961-1967), U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO (1969-1971), and as an assistant to President Nixon. He also served as Deputy Secretary of Defense (1975-1977). He was a close friend of Dole's and chaired his 1988 Presidential campaign.
