About this Collection
Voices from the Big First, 1961-1968, debuted in the Elizabeth Dole Gallery and Reading Room on February 11, 2021. It features a selection of constituent letters written to then-Congressman Bob Dole from the collections of the Dole Archives.
Funding for this exhibit was provided by Humanities Kansas as part of their initiative, Crossroads: Change in Rural America, which is a partnership between Humanities Kansas and the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street program. Humanities Kansas is a nonprofit cultural organization that connects communities with history, traditions, and ideas to strengthen civic life.

The exhibit was curated by Kansas history scholar and Dole Archives Curatorial Fellow Virgil Dean. Design of the physical exhibit was by Nate Forsberg Design, and Dole Archives Student Collection Assistant Kate Grasse produced the digital exhibit. Additional support by Dole Archives staff.
